LATEST DISTRICT NOTICE
March 27, 2020 Dear Parents, We hope this message finds you well. On March 13, 2020, we closed the Jersey City Public Schools as a precaution to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and we provided all our students with instructional lessons for twenty-one days. Then, Governor Murphy passed Executive Order 104 and 107, closing all the schools. Each day brings new information, but questions remain. Please know that we are actively working together as an administrative team to adjust our school year as timelines change. As of today, the schools will remain closed through the Spring Recess and as long as the Executive Orders remain in place.
Currently, our administrative and instructional leaders are meeting virtually to lay out the next phase of our home instruction plan in the event we are instructed to extend the school closure. During ordinary times we would not consider the possibility of keeping students home. But these are far from usual times.

We will continue to provide FREE breakfast and lunch to all children under the age of 18 at twenty different sites throughout the city. They can pick up both meals at the same time between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon outside PS 3, PS 5, MS 7, PS 11, PS 14, PS 15, PS 17, PS 20, PS 22, PS 23, PS 24, PS 27, PS 28, PS 34, PS 37, PS 38, MS 40, PS 41, Regional Day and Lincoln High School. We will let you know if we need to make changes.
The health of students and staff is the priority and will continue to do everything in our power to remain safe. We must continue to practice healthy habits such as washing our hands for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching our faces, staying home and exercising social distancing, and monitoring our health. If you believe you may have been exposed, including the following steps: • Take your temperature with a thermometer daily and watch for a fever (100°F/37.8°C or higher); • Watch for a cough or trouble breathing; • Contact the NJ Corona Virus Hotline 1 800-222-1222 if you suspect that you may have contracted the virus;
We strongly encourage everyone to continue working as the teachers will grade online and paper assignments. We will NOT DISTRIBUTE REPORT CARDS as originally scheduled since some students are completing paper and pencil assignments.
Together, we will take this crisis one day at a time; doing all we can to keep our families safe.
Respectfully, Franklin Walker Superintendent of Schools
Our teachers are connecting with our students. Please take a look at the schedule for your child's teacher. It can be found here:

Does your child/children want to lead the school in morning exercises digitally? Please visit this form and upload your child or children doing the pledge of allegiance and mottos. They will be selected at random and shared with the entire Cordero Community. Note, you must have a google account to do so, you will need to consent to the video being shared. The video cannot be bigger than 100MB.

Please note that our teachers are available for assistance. As we continue working from home, more instruction will need to be done digitally. The district is creating solutions so all students can access instruction and documents needed. More information will be made available when we receive it.

We hope you are staying healthy! Mr. Adinolfe and Mrs. Fuchs have created a Google Classroom to stay connected in the PE & Health subjects called Cordero Physical Education. It is intended for all grade levels from PK-8. Parents are invited to utilize the classroom as well because they have included several free workouts and activities for parents so you can also stay healthy, keep moving and get some stress relief! There is a section with free workouts your children can do as well. Many of them have done some of these during their classes and they are a lot of fun! They will put any future assignments, activities, videos, or competitions for PE in this Classroom. They are also considering using Zoom to invite different grade levels to join them for fun workouts we can do together in the future. To join the google classroom the code was sent to your emails. You can also contact either teacher and they will send it to you as well.

A message from Mrs. Pergola:
I created a read-aloud on youtube for my students in K-2 and have posted it to my google classroom.

I have set up Google Classrooms by grade level bands that I teach. The Classroom Codes are:

This is a special time, regardless of the major events going on outside of our homes. Please be sure to take this time to connect with your family and enjoy time that you normally wouldn't have together. If there is anyone in need, please do not hesitate to reach out. Have a great day.
