Metal Detector Procedures

Tomorrow we will begin use of metal detectors. A letter has been sent home to all students in grades 5-8. The letter is available on the Sunday Digest blog.

For all visitors including parent volunteers, please be advised that as you enter the building, you will need to go through the metal detector. We recommend that you place all belongings in your purse or in the receptacle that will be available at the top of the stairs to be scanned. Security will supervise your entry through the metal detectors.

For students in grade 5
Please note that students should put their phones, keys and wallets in their bookbags before entry so they will not trip off the metal detectors and help the lines flow as quickly as possible.
  • -Doors will open at 8:30
  • -Students will enter the main entrance with their teachers (Late entry students will come up by themselves).
  • -Led by their teachers, students will walk up the stairs and open their bags on the table.
  • -Students individually will enter through the metal detector.
  • -Students that sound the metal detector will be checked for metal objects and will go through the metal detector again.
  • -Questionable items found will be shared with the administration.
  • -After bag check and clearing the metal detectors, students are cleared to go to class.
